{"id":137788,"date":"2016-09-01T12:27:47","date_gmt":"2016-09-01T11:27:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.geraldgarcia.com\/wordpress\/?p=137788"},"modified":"2016-09-01T12:27:47","modified_gmt":"2016-09-01T11:27:47","slug":"the-leaves-be-green-interview-with-timothy-bowers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/geraldgarcia.com\/?p=137788","title":{"rendered":"&#8220;The Leaves be Green&#8221; Interview with Timothy Bowers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>After taking a break from the blog, there is now lots of new material.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/www.qtpublications.co.uk\/spweb\/images\/composers\/BowersTimothy.jpg\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I would like to start with this interview with the composer of a favourite piece with guitar quartets-<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.prestoclassical.co.uk\/sm\/7462077\">&#8220;The Leaves be Green&#8221;<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.prestoclassical.co.uk\/sm\/7462077\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/i.prs.to\/sm\/t\/orig\/ISMN9790708086321.jpg\" alt=\"Bowers\" width=\"319\" height=\"500\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nThe composer, Timothy Bowers, is a rather shadowy figure, but I managed to find him as he and I were the only ones raiding the drinks table at a reception for the <a href=\"http:\/\/vidagq.com\/2015\/10\/02\/new-cd-the-leaves-be-green\/\">Vida Quartet&#8217;s <\/a>concert (featuring the &#8216;Full English&#8217; on their eponymously titled CD, The Leaves Be Green) at King&#8217;s Place last year.<br \/>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"584\" height=\"329\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/GXr3QzQVXns?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><br \/>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"584\" height=\"329\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/RPoDT6C9yAk?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><br \/>\nTimothy Bowers is Head of Undergraduate programmes at the Royal Academy of Music.<br \/>\nHe is a versatile composer whose large output (approaching 100 pieces) includes works written for a wide range of instruments as soloists, including the series of six works commissioned by the Royal Academy of Music Brass department and published by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.qtpublications.co.uk\/spweb\/creators.php?creatorid=31855\">Queen&#8217;s Temple Publications<\/a>.<br \/>\nI was surprised to learn that he has written many guitar pieces, most of which are in manuscript, but some are available from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.spartanpress.co.uk\/spweb\/publications.php?creatorid=31855&amp;availability=all&amp;printedmusic=Y&amp;pdf=Y&amp;mp3=Y&amp;mp4=Y&amp;page=1\">Spartan Press.<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>After taking a break from the blog, there is now lots of new material.
