Chris Hadfield<\/a><\/strong> is an astronaut<\/strong> who also plays guitar and sings. He is famous for being the first Canadian spacewalker and also for popular science experiments in zero gravity, as well as his guitar playing skills!<\/p>\n

During his free time on\u00a0Expedition 35<\/a>, Hadfield recorded music for an album, using the\u00a0Larriv\u00e9e Parlor<\/a>\u00a0guitar<\/a>\u00a0previously brought to the ISS<\/strong> (International Space Station).
\nThat’s a really smart way to travel! No problem with airline baggage handlers then!<\/strong><\/p>\n

His collaboration with\u00a0Ed Robertson<\/a>\u00a0of the\u00a0Barenaked Ladies<\/a>\u00a0and the Wexford Gleeks,\u00a0Is Somebody Singing?<\/i>\u00a0(sometimes shortened\u00a0I.S.S.<\/i>), was aired on the CBC Radio program\u00a0Q<\/a>\u00a0and released by CBC Music online on 8 February 2013.
\nHadfield has been credited musically on his brother\u00a0Dave Hadfield<\/a>‘s albums.<\/p>\n

On 12 May 2013, after handing over command of the ISS, but before returning home, Hadfield released a music video recorded on the ISS of a modified rendition of “Space Oddity<\/a>” by\u00a0David Bowie<\/a>.\u00a0The video has had several million views on\u00a0YouTube. The performance was the subject of a piece by\u00a0Glenn Fleishman<\/a>\u00a0in\u00a0The Economist<\/i>\u00a0on 22 May 2013 analyzing the legal implications of publicly performing a copyrighted work of music while in\u00a0earth orbit.<\/strong>

\nThis is his take on David Bowie’s Space Oddity<\/strong> recorded on the International Space Station (mixed on earth!).<\/p>\n

This is quite beautiful in an unearthly kind of way.
